Emraan Hashmi would be enjoying luxury of riches beginning July. While his ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI is all set to arrive on 30th July, his CROOK: IT'S GOOD TO BE BAD is also aiming for 24th September release. Meanwhile, his pending project 24X7 RAFTAAR is also making fast progress and as per its makers, it would arrive in the month of September. This announcement means that the actor would be enjoying three releases in a time span of three months.
Post the release and debacle of Ram Gopal Varma's RANN, Emraan Hashmi starrer 24X7 RAFTAAR appeared to have been put on hold. The similarity between these two films was the fact that both RANN and RAFTAAR revolved around the internal politics of a newsroom. While RANN released and flopped despite critical acclaim, the release plans of RAFTAAR seemed to be nowhere in sight.
CHECK OUT: Emraan Hashmi: I have never had any insecurity
No wonder, for Emraan too it has been a long waiting period. "Some shooting is still left for the film.", he says with a wry smile, "I know that (producers) Percept Pictures have a lot of films in the pipeline. I don't know what are their plans for 24X7 RAFTAAR and when exactly are they looking at releasing it."
While the principal shooting of the film is more or less complete, everyone was surprised around the constant delay in film's release announcement. During September last year, Sagarika had stated, "The talkie portion of 24X7 RAFTAAR is over and we now just have a song more to do. Once that happens, we should be ready with the final copy. Actually I am not too sure about what's really stopping the film to be completed. I guess some dates issues had cropped up. Perhaps the producers would be getting the film up and running soon and release it before the end of the year.'
As for the producers, they did aim for reviving 24X7 RAFTAAR last year. As a part of "Indian Premier League (IPL) Miss Bollywood" contest held in South Africa last year, three beauty queens were selected to feature in an item number in 24X7 RAFTAAR. The ladies - Dune Kossatz, Genna Cloud and Dunay Nortje - were the three South Africans who were chosen from eight finalists who had performed at the grand IPL finals at the Wanderers in Johannesburg and were pretty much ready to rock Bollywood with dreams in their eyes.
However, as before, nothing concrete was announced when it came to the eventual completion and release of 24X7 RAFTAAR.
Says an industry insider, "After the announcement of 24X7 RAFTAAR, Ram Gopal Varma too had announced his RANN and started working on it a breakneck speed. Since both the films had media as the central element, the need of the hour for the makers of 24X7 RAFTAAR was to literally work 24X7 and get past the finishing line soon. Though Ramu did arrive earlier, it was with hardly favourable results."
Meanwhile, the stars from 24X7 RAFTAAR continued to be positive about the film getting ready for release soon. Says Neha Dhupia, "It is such a fabulous film and it wasn't really nice to be waiting for some great work by everyone to be seen on screen. I for sure am extremely attached to it."
CHECK OUT: Goa - Emraan's home away from home
Well, there is similar attachment that is apparent from the statement coming from Percept Pictures as well. As per Sanjay V. Ahire, COO, Percept Pictures, the film is pretty much on and aiming for September release. He says, "24X7 RAFTAAR is pretty much on and we are looking at September release. Percept Pictures is doing fine for itself and has released three films - JAIL, RAAT GAYI BAAT GAYI & BUMM BUMM BOLE - in the last six months. We have plans to release a total of nine films before end of year. This would include 24X7 RAFTAAR."
This should indeed spell good news for both Emraan and Neha who have been waiting for their film to finally hit the screens. 24X7 RAFTAAR also adds on to the interesting profile of both the actors because while Emraan would soon be seen in CROOK: IT'S GOOD TO BE BAD & ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI, Neha has WITH LOVE TO OBAMA and PAPPU CAN'T DANCE SAALA lined up before 2010 comes to a close.
