If one thought that Anurag Basu had gone silent after the release of KITES that is not the case to be. Yes, he has maintained a dignified silence ever since the release and slaughtering of the film. However, the fact is that he is making brisk progress towards getting the casting in place for his next major film SILENCE which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in lead.
Meanwhile, speculations are still on for another leading lady in SILENCE, shooting of which is expected only after the month of September. While names like Katrina Kaif, Asin and Deepika Padukone were being considered, there is still no certainty over the final entrant. With Ranbir expected to play a deaf and mute character in the film and Priyanka enacting the role of a mentally challenged girl, SILENCE can be expected to be quite dependant on powerful performances.
"That's right, performances are of paramount importance here", agrees Anurag, "Also, the film isn't specific to a genre per se. Though there is a love story at the core of it, the film has elements of everything in it. It comes with a wide mix of genres."
However, now with KITES over and out, Anurag can well be expected to get into his comfort zone all over again. He understands that creative freedom is something that he definitely craves for most, despite the stars involved in his films and the budget that he has to his disposal. After KITES, he would certainly know that better than the most.
