Punit Malhotra is all set with his directorial debut, I HATE LUV STORYS (IHLS). With just a few days left for the film's release (July 2nd), we find out what exactly is going through the young director's mind.

'I'll tell you honestly that I'm a little numb. I can't say I'm too excited or too nervous. I'm feeling a bit of both,' confesses Punit.

According to Punit, the film's treatment will make it different from other romantic comedies.

Says Punit, 'The film is about a boy who doesn't believe and a girl who believes in love. This sounds like a very cliched plot. But the novelty of this film is the film's treatment and the fact that it makes a mockery of love story in a love story.'

Punit is of the opinion that the younger generation perceives love in a completely different way.

'The emotion of love has completely changed. No one is ready to see a sad person dying because of love. If he is dying also, they want humour in it. Everything has to be lighter. The younger generation is even more practical about love. In the film, when Sonam is heartbroken, she talks to Imran practically. Even Imran is practical in the film and looks for a solution when there are relationship issues,' the director said.

When we asked Punit about his acting prospects, and if he is himself playing a part in the film, he replied saying, 'When someone tells me that I have the potential to be an actor, I take that as a compliment. But I wasn't tempted to cast myself in IHLS. Directing my first film was a task itself.'
