The first half of 2010 has officially come to an end and the report card shows that it has been one of the worse six months ever for the industry.
With RAAJNEETI being the only superhit (still counting) and just two other clear hits (based or worldwide run) in MY NAME IS KHAN and HOUSEFULL, stats speak loud and clear. Agreed that there have been other successful films like BADMAASH COMPANY, ISHQIYA, LOVE SEX AUR DHOKA and ATITHI TUM KAB JAOGE? but the profits accruing to the respective makers have not been all that substantial.
However, with three potential successes in July itself, the industry can seek solace from the fact that the first month of the second half can really turn the tide! The films in question are I HATE LUV STORYS, KHATTA MEETHA and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI. All three are looking good and the crisp promos are appealing to the potential paying audience. Most importantly, all the three projects are reasonably priced unlike the gas (rather money) guzzler super expensive projects of the first half.
