A power house of talent, actor Nirmal Pandey's untimely death has definitely left a void that cannot be easily filled. The actor rose to prominence with a sterling performance in Shekhar Kapur's BANDIT QUEEN, where he essayed the character of the famous dacoit, Vikram Mullah.
Mostly associated with films belonging to the off beat genre, like Sudhir Mishra's ISS RAAT KI SUBAH NAHIN, DAAYRA and GODMOTHER, Nirmal received a lot of recognition for his work. His most coveted award was for DAAYRAA (1997) for which he was honoured at the Valenciennes Film Festival in France.
Though he was working in quite a few films at the time of his death, and a few are in post production, it was LAHORE that excited him. Usually associated with grey characters, Vikram was happy playing a positive one this time. So upbeat he was about the film that he performed extraneous action scenes at the Khardungla Pass in Ladakh for LAHORE.
The director Sanjay Puran Singh dittos the fact putting aside any rumours that Nirmal was sick. His co-stars too are very sure that his character will appeal to all and that LAHORE will definitely be Nirmal Pandey's swan song.
