There was a time when Vikram Bhatt was working on multiple projects and had at least one film of his releasing every year. In fact there was also a time when there was a lot of pending projects piling up for him which resulted in a situation where he had three or more releases every year. This is when he decided to take stock of the situation and stopped signing any new film. Taking a deep breath and a break from work, he picked up 1920 as his only project of year 2008 which turned out to be a surprise success. Now more than a year and a half after his horror flick, he has SHAAPIT lined up. Doesn't he feel though that he should speed up a little now?
Says Vikram in an amused tone, "There was one time when I was going very fast and people were after my life. They used to say ki arrey yaar tu ek saal mein 3-3 filemin kyon bana raha hai? Now when I am going slow tab bhi logon ko complain hain. Tum batao yaar, ab main kya karoon?"
Perhaps this has something to do with the perks that come with a hit film behind you! After 1920 which was preceded by RAAZ, one of the most successful Bollywood horror flicks ever, expectations from Vikram have pretty much spared up as far as horror genre is concerned.
"Well, you may say that. All said and done, I know for sure how I am branded today. I am a fear peddler now. Period. People like David Dhawan and Priyadarshan peddle laughter, someone like Madhur Bhandarkar talks about social issues. I know that I am going to peddle with fear. It may be horror or something else but my shop will always sell fear", announces Vikram.
