Just last week we had told you about how Chunky Pandey's 'Aakhri Paasta' act from HOUSEFULL was a big hit with the audience. The black humour along with the killer one liner, 'I'm a joking' and of course Chunky's superb comic timing all contributed to the popularity of the character.
The man at the center of attention has something interesting to tell us, "You know I love playing these characters. The last one I liked was my Nepali act in APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY. But this time it was not so easy as there may be rarest of the rare examples of someone essaying an Indo-Italian (additionally with a touch of humour) on screen. So, what was the reference point?
"I am sure you must have seen Amitabh Bachchan's THE GREAT GAMBLER. Late Sujit Kumar ji (may his soul rest in peace) had played an Indo-Italian character called 'Marconi' in the film. I did not imitate him but yes, I did get a cue from it."
Well, to translate a cue to the level of perfection requires immense talent and Chunky has proved beyond doubt that he has loads of it. Here's wishing more success and many more characters from the highly underestimated actor Chunky Pandey who along with Govinda, Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt is one of the few survivors from the mid-80's.
