The coming Friday is more or less an open week as makers had preferred to keep a safe distance from Rakesh Roshan's KITES, which was expected to have a bountiful run during its second weekend as well. Of course there is a relatively lesser known ASHOK CHAKRA and also the Hollywood film, PRINCE OF PERSIA (along with its dubbed version), listed for release.
The opening of Rakesh Roshan's Anurag Basu directed Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangna Ranaut starrer, KITES, was as per expectations- huge! Unfortunately the word of mouth turned out to be mixed at the A centers and predominantly poor at the B and C centers and as a result after a huge weekend, the very expensive film saw declining collections Monday onwards. The film has also underperformed in the Overseas (given the humongous expectations), though the Brett Ratner edited main stream version (that will release in the Overseas this Friday) is expected to fare much better. As far as the numbers are concerned, KITES has grossed £273,958 from UK and $958,673 from US, during the opening weekend (21-23 May)
