While neither LUCK nor KIDNAP did much at the box office and were declared as duds (mainly due to the cost attached to them), Imran Khan is confident that I HATE LUV STORYS would be a much safer and appreciated venture for him.
"Honestly, what interested me most was that fact that (director) Punit (Malhotra) wanted to make the kind of romcom that we have seen and loved for years", he says, "He wanted to do it in a way where we make fun of what we have seen for over the years. Still there was a difference here. Rather than making fun of things from outside, we are making fun from inside. Yes, we are pointing fingers at songs and dances but the fact is that we have liked them for decades now and that would continue for many more decades."
Meanwhile Imran states that IHLS follows the route of a classic romcom and doesn't claim to charter into an unexplored territory.
"As I said, the story itself belongs to the kind that we always make. It is not a great original screenplay or something that we are offering here, but then the idea is to pick the same story and make it into something which is very interesting. The film itself is a classic romcom which has all the kind of classic ingredients that we like in a romcom", says Imran.
A co-production of UTV Motion Pictures, I HATE LUV STORYS also stars Sameer Dattani and releases all over on 2nd July.
