Singer Jagjit Singh to do 70 concerts in 2011

This is terrific news for all Jagjit Singh fans. The renowned Ghazal singer and music composer will be doing 70 concerts in 2011, the year in which he is turning 70. Jagjit Singh made this announcement at the music launch of Makrand Deshpande's directorial venture, SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAI TU.



Reveals Jagjit, "I don't have any dates next year. Next year is my 70th birthday. I'm going to celebrate it throughout the year," he says with excitement. "I'm supposed to do 70 concerts next year and I'm releasing seven albums consisting of 70 songs."

The singer has sung in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Sindhi and Nepali languages. He was also awarded India's third highest civilian honour, the Padma Bhushan, in 2003. His birthday is on February 8.
