Since A FLAT is being touted to be a new age urban horror/supernatural thriller, the makers were clear that they wanted to break the cliche which is associated with Bollywood horror flicks.
"Our director Hemant Madhukar was clear that he would be giving an altogether different treatment to A FLAT ", says Jimmy, the lead actor of the film, "Everything had to be subtle in A FLAT. There isn't any unnecessary 'cheekhna-chillana' (screaming), ghosts running all around you and stuff alike in A FLAT. Things are far more controlled here."
"See, when a script is good, you don't think about the budget", Jimmy defends the makers here, "You look at the people involved and judge for yourself whether it would be worthy enough to spend your 50-60 days with them. I know producer Anjum Rizvi since my CHARAS days. We both share a very good rapport. As for Hemant, I am very impressed with the director. Despite a budget which was just about decent, he didn't compromise on the quality aspect of the film."
Further continuing to talk about the first time director, Jimmy adds, "For someone who was starting his very first film, Hemant appeared to be a pretty sorted man during his interaction. Technically too he is a very sound guy and always knew the kind of look he wanted to give to the film. He knew that with an able storytelling, he would be able to pull it off well. Now that the promos are out, everyone can see his effort into making the film unique and special."
Also starring Sanjay Suri, Kaveri Jha and Hazel in principal roles, A FLAT is a co-production of Anjum Rizvi & Raaj Varma and releases on 12th November.
