Not many will remember that the melodious non-filmy album boom (especially for T-Series) in the early 2000 was initiated by a certain person by the name of Anubhav Sinha. Most of the music videos featuring the likes of Jagjit Singh, Daler Mehdi and not to forget Sonu Nigam, were directed by Anubhav Sinha. The subsequent sales of these albums were phenomenal to say the least and opened new avenues for other music companies as well.
However, it was with T-Series' sleeper hit, TUM BIN (2001), that the SEA HAWKS (UTV) fame Anubhav got instant fame. Released against Rakeysh Mehra's radically brilliant Amitabh Bachchan starrer AKS, the 2.5 crore starless TUM BIN went on to become a musical success. The film also had to face the might of Subhash Ghai's Hrithik-Kareena starrer YAADEIN just a couple of weeks later but held its own and continued its merry run. Ultimately TUM BIN more than doubled its investment for the makers and the memorable music of the film is still quite popular.
The next big stop for Anubhav was the slick action flick DUS, featuring the likes of Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunil Shetty and Shilpa Shetty. The film with a budget in the mid 20 crore went on to become a success for all concerned. The ringtone of the title track, Dus Bahane dominated the mobile sector for a while and it took a Dhoom tune to dethrone it.
To cut a long story short, the next landmark project for Anubhav Sinha is here. Obviously we are referring to the under production, Shah Rukh Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer, RA.ONE. As per trade sources, the film has a budget of well over a 100 crores and it boasts of some of best SFX/VFX to have hit the Indian screens. In fact those who have seen the rushes compare it to the iconic WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT.
Well, here's wishing the self made Mechanical Engineer-cum-director Anubhav Sinha much more laurels and success with RA.ONE.
