ACTION REPLAYY and GOLMAAL 3
The much awaited Diwali battle between Ajay Devgn's GOLMAAL 3 and the Akshay Kumar starrer ACTION REPLAYY was expected to be in favour of G3 but not as one sided as it actually turned out to be. After a somewhat disappointing Friday (more for ACTION REPLAYY) both the films picked up substantially on Saturday only to see indications of a fall on Sunday itself. However, amidst all that the Rohit Shetty directed GOLMAAL 3 established a big lead (during the opening weekend itself) over Vipul Shah's ACTION REPLAYY, almost in the ratio of 2:1! G3 saw mind blowing collections, especially in the Maharashtra and Gujarat circuits. But what came as the biggest shock was the fact that GOLMAAL 3 beat ACTION REPLAYY in the overseas circuit, despite the presence of stars like Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. While GOLMAAL 3 grossed £259,611 (including Thursday previews) from UK and $626,432 from US, ACTION REPLAYY could only manage £154,911 from UK and $300,000 in the US, during the opening weekend (5-7 November). As things stand today, GOLMAAL 3 is a sure shot hit while it will be considered a great comeback for ACTION REPLAYY even if it can get to an average status.
