SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming Friday release, GUZAARISH, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, surely appears to have his stamp of class written all over it, and this can be seen from the promos that have been doing the rounds all over the entertainment channels.
The director appears to be in his elements and as the release date closes in there is a sense of excitement amongst the lovers of discerning cinema, especially after Sanjay's sound handling of BLACK, which like GUZAARISH yet again deals with handicap(s) faced by the lead protagonist.
The director has clear cut views and feels that it's not the story but the treatment that is imparted to the script which matters in the long run. Citing the example of DEVDAS Sanjay explained that up till now four different directors have made DEVDAS-PC Barua, Bimal Roy, Anurag Kashyap and Bhansali himself. He elaborated that all of them tackled one story but the treatment was different and hence the end product was different too. Harping on the subject, Sanjay also added that it's the treatment that is the personal statement of the director which includes camera angles, song recording and picturisation, introducing a character and his attitude amongst others. He also added that he likes characters which are temperamental, moody and colourful.
Without doubt it's the treatment that is the hallmark of a great director and hopefully it will once again be proved with maverick director Bhansali's GUZAARISH.
