Madhur Bhandarkar, who specialises in making realistic & hard-hitting cinema, for the first time explores the genre of romantic comedy with his upcoming film DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI. Recently the filmmaker unveiled the first look of his new film amidst much fanfare. Entire cast & crew of the film - actors Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Omi Vaidya, Shazahn Padamsee, Shraddha Das, director & co-producer Madhur Bhandarkar, co-producer Kumar Mangat and others were at the event.
'I took inspiration from Basu da, Hrishikesh Mukherji films. I am feeling nervous but at the same time I am excited also as I am stepping into altogether different genre, which is quite contrasting to what Madhur Bhandarkar cinema is known for. And I hope as people, media, audiences, critics loved my earlier films, they will definitely love & accept this movie too. DTBHJ is a slice of life romantic comedy about three men & their encounters with love,' says the multiple National award winner filmmaker.
To many Madhur comes across as a serious filmmaker because of the kind of work he does but producer Kumar Mangat doesn't think so. According to him Madhur is quite a light-hearted & fun-loving person. 'People have this perception that just like his films Madhur is a serious person by nature also, which is not so. As far as I know he's quite funny and always in a jolly mood. It was a great experience working with him. Madhurji & I were in talks since quite some time to work on a film catering to romantic comedy genre and now that the film is ready & looking promising we are excited & eagerly looking forward to it.'
Actor Ajay Devgan wittily added, 'Madhur has made DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI better than his serious films because as per the concept of the film, nobody can understand women as Madhur can. There are three different characters in the film each having his own stand. Aur yeh saari thinking Madhur ke mind mein hai woh yeh har teeno ki tarah sochta hai . Like the caption of the film reads 'Love grows... Men don't', I think that's perfect for Madhur. But, it was fun doing this film. It's very different and I am sure everybody would like it.'
DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI is all set to release on 28th January, 2011.
