Kiran Rao is back with another postcard to promote DHOBI GHAT. In the postcard she talks about how no special sets were put up for the film and how Mumbai plays a character in the film.
DHOBI GHAT POST CARD
She writes, 'Mumbai is the fifth character in my film, and I wanted to portrait it in all its vibrance and complexity. And so DHOBHI GHAT was shot entirely on real locations- in crowded back-alleys, a sky-scraper under construction, the pulsating Mohd. Ali Road markets, a sea-facing Worli bungalow, at the spectacular (and crazy!) Mahalaxmi dhobi ghat on Chowpatty beach and on Marine Drive in the pouring rain (to name a few).'
She further adds, 'No sets, a few lights, a 16mm camera, my actors and crew the Mumbai monsoon, and me.'
