It is a known fact that DOSTANA 2 has been pushed ahead since makers Karan Johar and director Tarun Mansukhani were not too pleased with the written word in the script. Though the film was originally scheduled to go on floors a couple of months, DOSTANA 2 would now have the camera rolling for it only early next year. However, Karan Johar is not too worried with the delay since he believes that his Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Katrina Kaif starrer would still manage to catch up on its original release plans.
'We were anyways aiming for DOSTANA 2 to release in the second half of 2011. In that sense we are more than 300% sure that we would meet our original deadline. It's just that we all would now have to work extra hard to get the post production in place in time after wrapping up the shooting part', says Karan Johar who saw three of his films release this year. While MY NAME IS KHAN and I HATE LUV STORYS were hits, WE ARE FAMILY settled down as an average affair.
His big calling card for the coming year was DOSTANA 2 though, more so because this path breaking comedy about two young men pretending to be gays was a first in Bollywood. With promise of much more fun and humour in the second installment, audience have been waiting with bated breath for DOSTANA 2 to hit the screens soon.
'It was Tarun who came to me and requested some more time to spend on script before hitting the sets. He wasn't entirely happy with about 15 minutes of the film and wanted to refine it further', Karan reasons here, 'Well, I don't blame him because expectations are really high. He is right in deciding to hold on for a while before rushing through the proceedings.'
