Already facing comparisons to the Oscar winner SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE director of ALLAH KE BANDAY, Faruk remains unfazed. "I'd be proud if people compare my film to Slumdog that was made at a budget of 15.6 million dollars. The budget for our film was 5 crores," says the director.
The filming of Faruk Kabir's brainchild ALLAH KE BANDAY starring veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and Sharman Joshi didn't come easy -the story inspired by a front page report on a leading tabloid took two years to release.
Faruk, who is also acting in the film, was taken aback with the kind of organization and planning a group of young boys were involved in with the rail-yard robberies after the tabloid reported it two years ago.
Says Faruk, "ALLAH KE BANDAY was born from that article. I don't want to glorify my struggle but it wasn't easy."
