When Vipul Shah was devising ACTION REPLAYY, he was very particular about one aspect of the film - its look. Of course the content stayed on to be at the forefront but for that to make maximum impact, he wanted the 70s mood to be reflected perfectly well with the look of the film playing an important role.
"You can't have a film set in 70s with the look not complimenting the mood and flavour of the era gone by", says Vipul who went through painstaking detail to get the retro look right for ACTION REPLAYY. I wanted to have a certain visual quality to the film that would be abound with colours and festivities."
To pull off a film that carried high stakes, he required actors who could do justice to its setting.
"This is where Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came in handy", he gets nostalgic when reminded of the time when the film's casting was finalized, "These are two actors who can pull off anything. Not just are they extremely good looking, they are also thorough professionals and active contributors who go all out to ensure that the director's vision is met."
He laughs though when questioned on his own experience as someone who has seen the phase of 70s. "No, I don't quite remember the 70s very clearly. Those were my growing up days as a youngster. In any case, I am not a very fashion savvy guy", laughs Vipul, "I have hardly been into fashion. Most of the times, you can catch me in a casual attire wearing shorts and T-Shirts."
Thankfully, Vipul and his team did much better with their cast of ACTION REPLAYY.
