Debutante director Chetan Desai's all set with his animation film, RAMAYANA- THE EPIC. According to the director, the recall value of Ramayana is undeniable which prompted him to make the film.

'Ramayana is a perfect story. It has travelled for over 6000 years. It's a timeless classic. The new generation will forget SHOLAY. But they won't forget Ramayana. The drama that Ramayana has is phenomenal. It's bigger than any soap opera. Rama gets exiled, there's politics happening because of which he has to go. There's so much of emotions and Indianness in it,' said Chetan.

Continuing in the same vein, he says,'Ramayana has inspired us in many ways. Some people get inspired by the story. Some people get inspired by the greatness of Rama. But in our busy lives we don't read about Ramayana and old mythology, from where we get our sanskars (learning) from. One day, I stumbled upon a comic book of Ramayana and visualized it in a completely different way. I thought someone has to make a movie out of it and felt why not me?'

Does he consider animation to be a children's medium? 'Animation is not just for kids. It's pretty vast. You can have children's medium animation or for young viewers. The animation for youngsters needs to have action, real humour and hidden messages to make the audience think. RAMANYA is based for everybody. We have spent three years developing the visuals for it. So, I'm quite sure people will like it.'

The film features the voices of Manoj Bajpayee and Juhi Chawla and releases this Friday.
