At the end of first week, ANJAANA ANJAANI has done a decent business of 50 crores worldwide. As for Sajid Nadiadwala, he has all the right reasons to smile. After all the film's success has been the second instance in his two decade long career as a producer when two of his films releasing within six months of each other have proven to be successful.
Says a trade observer, "Sajid doesn't bring too many films on floors at any given point of time. In fact he has made only a dozen odd films in last two decades. His films do come with a gap of one-two years. Between his two successful films - HAR DIL JO PYAAR KAREGA (2000) and MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI (2004) - there was a four year gap. However, his JEET (1996) and JUDWAA (1997), had released within six months of each other and both were huge successes."
Remind Sajid about history repeating itself with JEET/JUDWAA and he smiles, "Yes, it is some coincidence. Of course, one can't plan such things. The way ANJAANA ANJAANI has followed up the success of HOUSEFULL in a back-to-back manner I guess its fine to be making multiple films a year. It is some task though to give two of your films such massive release. Between HOUSEFULL (2200) and ANJAANA ANJAANI (1800), there were close to 4000 screens that were occupied in the first week."
Well, with talks around Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan already being finalised for Sajid's next three ventures, seems like the producer here would indeed be having some busy times ahead!
