Having retired from acting at the tender age of 21, Padmini Kolhapure is coming back on the silver screen but in a Malayalam film. She will be seen in director V K Prakash's upcoming Malayalam film KARMAYOGI.
Kolhapure has been offered to play a very important role in this film that stars Indrajith in the lead. The actress has got a meaty role and it is reportedly a kind of role which she has never played in her 15-year-long career. The film is said to be based on the famous Shakespeare's play Hamlet.
The 44-year-old actress had taken a break from acting after tying the knot in the early eighties. She staged a comeback in 2004 with the Marathi film MANTHAN' after which she retired from acting just at the age of 21.
While artistes from South India like Kamal Hassan, Rajnikant, Prabhudeva and R. Madhavan feature prominently among artistes who have come here from down South and made a name here, Bollywood artistes like Aashish Vidyarthi, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Annu Kapur, Ashutosh Rana among the actors and Tabu, Rimi Sen, Jyothika, Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Naghma, Sridevi, Meenakshi Seshadri, Jaya Pradha, Rekha, Ayesha Takia and Genelia D'Souza among the actresses have ignited silver screens in South India.
