JHOOTHA HI SAHI releases today but after a brief period of lull for John Abraham. His last two major releases (barring AASHAYEIN which was a delayed release) - DOSTANA and NEW YORK - were both hits and while one would have expected him to really cash on the success of both the films, he actually decided to go slow when it came to signing newer projects. What was the reason behind that?
"There was no point signing any random projects. Moreover, I was actually occupied with JHOOTHA HI SAHI which required my full attention. Also, it wasn't as if I wasn't signing anything new. After much deliberation, I did say yes to the Hindi remake of Tamil hit KAKKA KAKKA. I have been shooting with (director) Nishikant Kamat and (producer) Vipul Shah for this film. It has been really good so far. We finish shooting in end of January so that should be my next big release in 2011", details John.
Meanwhile, there won't be one but two major releases of John Abraham in 2011. He would also be kick starting work in DESI BOYZ', a film that pairs him along with Akshay Kumar yet again after GARAM MASALA, which was a box office hit for both the actors.
"DESI BOYZ would be directed by Rohit Dhawan (son of David Dhawan). He is a really bright young boy. I am sure he will make something fantastic. Also, I am so much looking forward to work with Akshay again. It has been half a decade since GARAM MASALA released. It has been such a long time, I didn't even realise how it just flew by", John gets nostalgic here.
While that happens, John has already begun work on other films. Come 2011 and he would also be shooting for the sequels to DOSTANA and RACE. Next couple of years may well belong to him.
