Despite a promising start and fulfilling all the requirements of a conventional Bollywood star, Zayed Khan has been unable to find a foothold in the film industry. The last substantial role that he essayed was in the multistarrer underwater adventure BLUE, which despite hype failed at the ticket window, even though Zayed came in for a lot of praise from the audience for his role.
Lately he made his presence felt with an interesting cameo in Siddharth Anand's last release, ANJAANA ANJAANI which he says he did for his friend Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer of the film. Zayed elaborates that Sajid insisted that he essay the role as he found Zayed apt saying that the audience would easily relate to the character, which did turn out to be true, seeing the accolades that Zayed has been receiving.
However, Zayed is very serious about turning to film productions He disclosed that he wants to make a candy floss movie as he feels that he represents the youth and understands their sensibilities. He also went on to explain that in Bollywood films that are made are either big budget or small budget, off beat or commercial but he wants to make movie which is in between these two extremes.
