Francis Ford Copolla's GODFATHER has been an inspiration for many movies, be it Hollywood or its Indian counterpart, Bollywood. And that it interests iconoclastic director Ram Gopal Varma is known to most, who follow Bollywood. His SARKAR too was loosely inspired from the film.

Although his upcoming RAKHT CHARITRA is not inspired from the film but the iconoclastic director feels that the life and times of slain political Andhra leader, Paritala Ravi, has all the trappings of a gripping thriller, almost similar to the iconic Hollywood film GODFATHER.

Ramu explains that while studying in an Engineering college in Hyderabad, he had witnessed first hand the charismatic and fearless leader's rise to power and the violent incidents that occurred during his regime and so he always felt that this was a story that was as gripping and thrilling as GODFATHER itself and so it needed to be shown to all on celluloid.

Well, must say that all the countless fans of the GODFTHER saga have indeed a reason to watch RAKHT CHARITRA and if it's even half as entertaining and thrilling as GODFATHER, then we can say, it's a 'paisa vasool' venture from Ramu!
