Vinay Pathak's film DASVIDANIYA has recently been selected to be screened at The Film Festival Cottbus - Festival of East European Cinema and its 20th Anniversary Celebration from November 2nd to 7th 2010.
Being scheduled within this year's focus entitled global East, dedicated to the influence of Eastern Europe on contemporary international cinema, DASVIDANIYA has received the wonderful opportunity to be screened as an Indian film production, for the very first time in the now 20 years history of the Cottbus film festival, otherwise entirely devoted to Eastern European cinema. With this unique profile Cottbus was ranked by 'Variety' among the top 50 must attend festivals worldwide.
With the film generating enthusiasm among the festival organizers, the director of the film Mr. Shashant Shah has been further invited as a member of the International Festival Jury 2010, and as such to present his work in person to the festival audience as well as the well represented media.
The festival has also extended the invitation to Mr. Vinay Pathak, the lead actor, the co-producer and an integral part of the film, to visit the festival as a guest as well as represent the film along with Mr. Shashant Shah. Both Mr. Shashant Shah and Mr. Vinay Pathak shall be leaving for Cottbus on the 3rd of November 2010.
Mr. Shashant Shah's second film, CHALO DILLI is in production presently and has Mr. Vinay Pathak as the lead.
The five members of this jury, all of them prominent film professionals from various countries and backgrounds, will have to evaluate 10 films to be expected in the competition feature film, representing the cream of East European talent today.
All films will be shown in their Original language (with English subtitles, or in exceptional cases simultaneously translated into English).
The festival will be opened by a gala in the Cottbus state theater (on Nov. 2nd) by Germany's minister for culture, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the State of Brandenburg as well as many prominent guest, a.o. The Honorary President of Cottbus film festival, Oscar-winner Istvan Szabo (Hungary).
The closing and award giving ceremony will take place in the festival center Stadthalle Cottbus (on Nov 6th).
