Karan Johar's WE ARE FAMILY was supposed to release along side Salman Khan's DABANGG on 10th September, but good sense prevailed and in a move which should prove beneficial for both the films in the long run, the film was preponed and is now set to open on 2nd September.
The two other films which will also release simultaneously (albeit a day later) are Wilson Louis' MALLIKA and THE FILM EMOTIONAL ATYACHAR. What is working in favour of all these films and especially the Arjun Rampal, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor starrer is that they have an extended holiday weekend ahead of their worldwide screening.
While 2nd September is a holiday because of Janamashtmi, 3rd September too will be a holiday in quite a few parts of India due to Jummat-ul-wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan. Thus it would it would be an extended weekend for WE ARE FAMILY which will start from 2nd September, that is Thursday itself and this should indeed translate into some pretty good collections in the opening weekend for the film. This in turn would mean that the 25 crore budget film may just manage to cover a substantial part of it's cost in the opening week itself.
As they say, well begun is half done in Bollywood, as we have seen quite often in the past, Aamir Khan's PEEPLI [LIVE] and the Imran-Sonam starrer, I HATE LUV STORYS are a few noteworthy examples and WE ARE FAMILY may just add to that list.
