Rituparna Sengupta was recently seen in a sensitive drama AND ONCE AGAIN. Known as a capable performer, she has worked primarily in offbeat films during last half a decade gone by where she first made an impression with MAIN, MERI PATNI AUR WOH. Now as she looks forward to the release of her upcoming film LIFE EXPRESS, she is charged up again as she plays the role of a corporate woman who approaches another woman (Divya Dutta) to step in as a surrogate mother.
'This is something that has never been tried before', informs Rituparna, 'Earlier in CHORI CHORI CHUPKE CHUPKE, Preity did play a surrogate mother but that was through a physical relationship with Salman's character. In LIFE EXPRESS, there is no such affair as surrogating is done medically. Divya's womb is hired and she is only the carrier of the baby.'
Rituparna is understandably charged about the film since it had performance oriented parts written for the two women. For someone who has reveled in playing characters which are complex and layered, the National Award winning actress was glad to hop on to the project.
'My forte has always been performance and it is due to this that I have got lot of attention from good directors', says Rituparna who was recently also seen in Priyadarshan's BUMM BUMM BOLE, 'A lot of new film makers also give me good roles. If they are written well, I don't bother much about banner.'
