Rituparna Sengupta, top star from Bengali film industry, believes that she is yet to get her due in Bollywood. Though she is a huge name when it comes to films coming out of West Bengal, in the Hindi film industry she is yet to establish herself firmly. She did make a good impression in MAIN, MERI PATNI AUR WOH but none of her half a dozen Hindi films after that have worked at the box office.
"I have realised that in Bollywood, there are different things that guide you in your career", says Rituparna', "A lot depends upon whether you are working with big production houses and big actors. However, I do feel that there should be space for everything."
She does believe though a banner plays an important role in an actor's journey. Smiles Rituparna, "In fact it is quite ironical for me out here when it comes to signing Hindi films. When I am in Kolkata, people feel that I should be doing work only with the best of the business. Due to the good standing that I have in Bengali film industry, they feel that I should be working only with Yash Raj Films. I still don't know much about big banners operate in Mumbai but I am going with my own instinct as of now when it comes to choosing films."
"Other cinema should also get priority and this is the reason why I support that kind of cinema where new concept and ideas are explored", she goes on to add, "They may not have big buck backing but they do talk about issues of today."
However, Rituparna understands that being slotted in a particular kind of roles is not going to help her cause and hence is open to glamorous outings as well.
"By no means do I want to stagnate myself in one place", declares Rituparna, "I too want to be seen in different avtars. It isn't as if I am inclined only towards performance oriented roles. If the characterization is right, I too can get into a glam outing."
