There is no doubt that Salman Khan's DABANGG, which releases today, is all set to embark on an earth shattering start. While that is happy news for the makers, distributors and also Salman Khan fans, success does have its fallout!
As per our trade and distribution sources, a known single screen cinema of Jaipur was scheduled to screen DABANGG from Friday but was unable to do so because the owners of a top multiplex did not wish so. The multiplex owners had asked the distributors not to release the film at the single screen cinema, which is situated just a couple of kilometers from their newly built complex.
In fact, they had even threatened the distributors that they would not screen the film in all their four properties in Jaipur if the print of DABANGG was supplied to the concerned cinema. Naturally the distributors could not say no as they could have lost a whole lot of money and so eventually they conveyed their refusal to the unfortunate cinema.
While it is a clear case of might is right in this case but it is quite ironical too as just like WANTED in 2009 this year DABANGG was one such film on which single screens owners had rested a lot hope that it will rake in the moolah and pull them out of crisis which has arisen due to the mushrooming of multiplexes.
