DABANGG has taken the biggest ever opening of all times, hence eclipsing the 80 crores first week (including Thursday previews) that 3 IDIOTS had boasted of. First time producer Arbaaz Khan has hit the jackpot as well. While he played a strong supporting role in the Salman Khan starrer, he insists that post DABANGG he would be continuing to act in films rather than pursuing a full time career as a producer.
"I am still open to film offers and haven't put an end to my acting career", announces Arbaaz who is definitely going through the biggest high in his career, "However, I won't be doing everything that comes my way. It has to be something that really excites me. A film maker has to tell me that this is a role that only I can do, something that Madhur Bhandarkar told me when he approached me for FASHION."
Was that the reason why he consented to play the role of 'Makhi Singh' in DABANGG?
"Yes, I was in the film not because I was the producer but because I could see that I was the right choice for the role", says Arbaaz, "The character had to look convincing and believable. Still, the film wasn't made to salvage my career as an actor; it was done purely to enhance my credentials as a film maker. Now that it has happened, I can breathe easy."
Does this mean that in his future projects as a producer, he would always cast himself? "Not necessarily", comments Arbaaz before signing off.
