It was six years ago when Vivek Oberoi and Surya had come together for the first time. Though they hadn't shared screen space together, they often used to cross each other's path during the shooting of YUVA. A bilingual, this Mani Ratnam directed film was also being made in Tamil as AYITHA EZHUTHU where Surya played the part of Michael, the role which was enacted by Ajay Devgn in the Hindi version.
Circa 2010 and Vivek and Surya can be seen having a direct face off in Ram Gopal Varma's RAKTA CHARITRA which is gearing up for release.
Says a senior unit member associated with the film, "Vivek and Surya come from different film worlds but are quite passionate about acting. Since they also belong to the same age group, it was imperative that an instant bonding was formed."
Though Surya comes with far more impressive body of work and has a richer experience than Vivek, he never shied away from being his pal.
The unit member adds, "There was no inhibition whatsoever between the two. In fact Vivek too was all ears as he liked hearing the stories that Surya had to tell. Of course he had many of his own to tell as well. RAKTA CHARITRA required them to be all intense on screen but once a shot was canned, they were back to being buddies. The camaraderie was to be seen to be believed."
Well, that's a pity because none of that can be expected to be visible on screen since in the film, courtesy both men being on the opposing sides and at loggerheads with each other.
