Yesteryears' epic film SHOLAY has affected the lives of every Hindi cinegoer and its immortal characters like Thakur, Gabbar, Jai, Veeru, Basanti, etc, which have become household names, are popular even today. One such actor who is highly inspired by these mega characters is our very own Bollywood hottie, Lara Dutta.
The beautiful actress, who turns producer with upcoming film CHALO DILLI, has named her newly formed production house Bheegi Basanti Productions after SHOLAY's fondly remembered character 'Basanti'.
'I am a big SHOLAY fan and I have always loved the name 'Basanti'. I was going to name my dog 'Basanti',' laughs Lara and further adds, 'I knew that I was going to do something with Basanti at some point of time in my life but I think Bheegi Basanti just brings to mind the very quintessential sari-clad Hindi film heroine underneath of waterfall. It brings such a typical image into mind and I really love the word. It also suits a little bit of my mad personality that very few people get to see.'
Her co-star in the film CHALO DILLI, Vinay Pathak also loves the name. 'I think it's a great name, very catchy and I love the name Bheegi Basanti,' says Vinay.
We wonder how the original Basanti - Hema Malini feels about it.
