Eminent director Sudhir Mishra's latest flick, YEH SAALI ZINDAGI, bore his stamp of quality cinema and was patronized by the select multiplex thronging intellectual audience.
Naturally the director of award winning films like IS RAAT KI SUBAH NAHIN, HAZARON KHWAISHEIN AISI and CHAMELI is on a high and when we spoke to him about the recent upsurge of vulgarity in the Hindi cinema, Sudhir Mishra had a very simple answer to the problem faced, especially by the family and class audience.
Says Sudhir, "It's up to the audience. They should shun vulgar films. The moment the audience stops watching and patronizing such films automatically the makers would stop producing them." When queried further as to how filmmakers can get over the bad habit of using vulgarity to lure in the audience, the director had a very intelligent answer. He said, "Producers should make use of newer techniques that are now easily available in the area of film making to make their product attractive to the audience and not resort to vulgarity and cheap dialogues and songs and dances in order to make their film a hit."
Right on dot Sudhir ji and here is hoping that not only the audience but also the filmmakers who make such films listen to you and shun vulgarity and make cinema a pleasant and entertaining experience for all.
