He has completed a decade in the industry and is now at an exciting juncture of his career where two of films are arriving in a span of one month. While GAME has already released, Abhishek Bachchan's DUM MAARO DUM is all set to hit the screens in a couple of weeks.
However while these films are as commercial as they get, his last year's releases like KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY as well as RAAVAN had an element of experimentation to them. One wonders whether it ever came to his mind that for films to come, he could possibly be taking far safer route and pick only those assignments where there is better possibility, if not guarantee, of commercial returns.
'Of course yes, why not,' Abhishek surprises here just when one expected that he would be making cliched statements around balancing art v/s commercial cinema, 'At the end of the day we are a part of commercial medium. I am born and brought up in the film industry and my family has been making cinema which caters to the masses. At the end of the day it is all about entertainment and this is what I strive to deliver.'
While Abhishek sounds earnest here, the fact is that GAME hasn't lived up to the hype commercially. The question is - 'Whether Abhishek Bachchan would bounce back all over again, just as he had done a year earlier when his PAA had followed the unsuccessful DELHI 6?'
Come 22nd April when DUM MAARO DUM releases and that would be known by one and all.
