Looks like the acting bug has now bit Anurag Kashyap in a big way. Though he had played a bit role in his own directorial outing BLACK FRIDAY and had followed it up with a cameo in LUCK BY CHANCE, Anurag has now picked up films where he would be seen in full fledged roles. In coming few weeks, Anurag would be seen in as many as two films where he is playing one of the principal protagonists.
'Yes, Anurag has developed an interest to face the camera as well instead of just being behind it', says an industry source, 'He would be seen in one of the four stories of Onir's I AM. His part is such that it would be shocking many out there. As you can see, he is also featuring very prominently in the promos. Then in Nana Patekar's SHAGIRD, he would be seen in a well fleshed out role of a gangster. Since he has made films like BLACK FRIDAY and GULAAL, he could get the negative shades right.'
Currently occupied with wrapping up his directorial venture GANGS OF WASSEYPUR, Anurag wasn't available for comments. However on further checking out his acting assignments, it was obvious that SHAGIRD and I AM won't be the last that one would see of Anurag in front of the camera. He would also be seen in cameos for TERA KYA HOGA JOHNY and SOUNDTRACK. Incidentally both these films feature Soha Ali Khan as the central protagonist.
Well Anurag, now that you have turned actor, how about making a film that is centred only on you? Perhaps further spice could be added to the proceedings if you ask dear friend Dibakar Bannerjee to direct the film. Any takers for the 'Dosti Forever'?
