As we had said even before the release of THANK YOU, the film was not carrying the usual buzz associated with an Anees Bazmee-Akshay Kumar project and so it was not expected to fetch a bumper start. And indeed, THANK YOU saw a below-the-mark start and netted just about 5 crore on its opening day. But thankfully the film picked up wonderfully during the weekend. Not only that, even the weekdays saw a very steady run (unlike most Akshay releases in recent times!).

Though doomsday prophecies were floated based on the first day numbers, the Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Rimi Sen and Sonam Kapoor starrer showed great resilience from Saturday onwards and netted 30.50 crore during the opening week.

Well, given the healthy second Friday, we are sure that the UTV and Hari Om Entertainment Co.'s THANK YOU is all set to score at the ticket window.
