The opening of Rohan Sippy's DUM MAARO DUM was never expected to be bumper, though a 50-70 percent initial was very much on the cards. But the start of the Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati and Prateik Babbar starrer turned out to be much lower than expected and varied between 20-40 percent.
In two relatively smaller territories like East Punjab and Hyderabad-Nizam DMD was unfortunate to run into regional films like Jimmy Shergill's DHARTI and the Prabhas-Kajal starrer MR. PERFECT and so the collections were even lower.
However, thanks to some good reviews and decent word of mouth the film did show an appreciation in the matinee and evening shows. If DMD can capitalize and pick up more during the weekend there can still be a turnaround in its fortune.
The other release, Darsheel Safary's ZOKKOMON fared even worse and failed to appeal to its target audience.
