After working in number of films that boasted of unconventional stories and storytelling, Abhay Deol now has the second biggest grosser of the year in the form of ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA. However he doesn't deny the fact that the need of the situation for his film was to open quite well since there was quite some moolah riding on it.
"Yes, we all were pretty conscious about the fact that the film had to put up large numbers since it was made at a high cost after all," he says, "Thankfully the collections were huge that really helped us win the battle. Having said that I could already see that coming. So really, I wasn't surprised when I started getting calls from Mumbai to New York that 'ZINDAGI....' was going houseful all over."
He continues, "Now even as we complete three weeks in theatres, the film is doing so well. I can now expect many more people in the film world to take chances with different subjects and combination of actors. It always helps as audience too wants change."
With all the positives coming the film's way and it turning out to be a win-win situation for all involved, does he ever feel that something about it could have been bettered?
"I guess it could have been a shorter film. May be just 15 minutes shorter and it may have made an even better impact. But then that's okay because such things are just a part of the learning curve," smiles Abhay before signing off.
