Prakash Jha's AARAKSHAN got a clean chit from Punjab and AP Governments and shows of the film started from 13th August 2011.
A special committee was set up by both the governments to see if there was anything objectionable in the film. The film was really appreciated by both the committees and was passed by them for release with very minor changes which have been made by the producer/director Prakash Jha.
The film maker has been getting congratulatory messages and an overwhelming response from audiences who have seen the film from across the country as well as overseas. Multiplex chains and theatre owners have said that the audience response has been great in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
Prakash Jha, "It is a relief that the film is finally going to release in Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. I'm overwhelmed by the show of support from the common citizens of India, who are going to watch the film. It is reassuring to know that the right to Freedom of Expression is a real right for every Indian citizen. We are working towards getting the film released in Uttar Pradesh as well."
