Salman Khan's BODYGUARD has pretty much made a record for itself after being made in as many as four languages and that too with the same director but with a different leading man every time. With a version each in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, one looks forward to how Salman has played his part in this family entertainer which is all set to hit the screens this Eid.
"See, Salman has his own way of portraying characters and comes up with something unique every time," says Atul Agnihotri, film's producer and Salman's brother-in-law, "This isn't an exception being made in our film though just because Salman is a superstar. You would see that even in South versions, every actor has played this character differently as per expectations from their regional fans. Something similar has been done by us as well since we are looking at pan-India audience. Obviously with Salman on board, the experience is bound to be different for the audience."
In this entire 'larger than life' affair, one does wonder how Kareena fits in. After all while there have been action sequences enhanced to accentuate Salman's superstar appeal, Kareena is seen mainly in Indian attire as a girl next door. Isn't she being robbed of donning a glamorous avatar?
"But then I think Kareena Kapoor is intrinsically glamorous. Period," Atul ends the argument here with a smile, "She could be wearing a salwar-kameez, saree or a dress but she would still look very glamorous. There is a certain aura and personality that she carries due to which none of us were ever worried about her looks. Let aside her overall personality, ever her close ups are glamorous by themselves."
Well, we certainly look forward to this macho-meets-glam affair when BODYGUARD releases all over on 31st August. Directed by Siddique, the film also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Raj Babbar and Hazel Keech in important roles with Katrina Kaif in a specially designed item number.
