The road to release for AARAKSHAN was paved with perils and the first day saw a ban in three states- U.P., Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. Thankfully the ban was lifted in Andhra and Punjab from the second day. However, despite that the Amitabh, Manoj, Saif and Deepika starrer performed very well netting over 25 crores during the extended 4-day weekend (Friday-Monday). The film is expected to fare creditably in the coming days. In the overseas, AARAKSHAN has been below the mark (better in US), grossing £ 76,000 from UK and $343,000 from US during the opening weekend (12-14 August). The other release of the week, Vikram Bhatt's PHHIR started on a dull note. The extended weekend did see a nominal pick up at some centers but it was not significant enough.
