Emraan Hashmi may be basking in the glory of THE DIRTY PICTURE but not everyone can be expected to be as pleased. His long pending RAFTAAR 24X7 continues to be stuck and there is no bail out yet in sight. Directed by late Shamim Desai, this is in fact the only film of Emraan which is yet to see the light of the day. Not known for picking up films by dozens, Emraan spent quite some time on RAFTAAR 24X7 when it went on floors three and a half years back. However due to certain internal issues, the film had to be stalled for a while.
''You can't blame Emraan though,' says a close friend of the actor in his defence, 'He gave his all to the film since he was quite excited about doing it from day one. He is playing a TV journalist and exposes the political-media-business world nexus. However the film has been delayed so much that it is disappointing for everyone involved. He wants the film to see the light of the day as well and is waiting for all logistics to be sorted out first.''
Launched with much fanfare in 2008 with a budget pegged at 25 crores, RAFTAAR 24X7 was one of those couple of dozen films which came into existence when the industry was at its peak. There was widespread excitement for all involved since it was all set to be Emraan Hashmi's biggest venture then. CHECK OUT: Emraan Hashmi burns Vidya Balan's poster
''Emraan is firmly in the big league now after successes like MURDER 2 and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI - 2,' says an industry source, 'His THE DIRTY PICTURE is now a superhit while SHANGHAI, JANNAT 2 and MURDER 3 are looking positive as well. It would require some push for Emraan to go back and complete a prior commitment.''
His co-star Neha Dhupia is expecting the film to be revived soon though. ''Yes, I am waiting for RAFTAAR 24X7 to release. There is just a song left and I would be happy to pick it up once Emraan's dates are available.''
