Though Vidya Balan had to go the whole hog for THE DIRTY PICTURE, for Tusshar too working in the film was no less a challenge. Though he has done a sex comedy like KYA KOOL HAIN HUM, there has never been a film for him which is about some serious body display and physical proximity.
"I knew though that Milan would never make a film that would be cheap. Also, audience too won't step into the film thinking that it is going to be one ride centered only on body display. After all, a film gets its own credibility when you have actors like Vidya and Naseer together," smiles Tusshar, "Even I never thought for even once that I was doing something like a BASIC INSTINCT. As you can see it now, the film is not just about skin show."
While Vidya's character of Silk did have quite a few certain reference points, one wonders whether Tusshar too had to hunt for a real life personality from South Indian movies on whom he could base his character. CHECK OUT: Great start for THE DIRTY PICTURE!
"No, there was no reference point for me. In fact I didn't even get the whole script and I guess same holds good for other male leads as well," says Tusshar, "I just got my scenes and I went ahead with the graph that was right in front of me. I wasn't required to go elsewhere and had to basically imagine this character."
He is happy to have picked up this part though even though Naseeruddin Shah had the meatiest part and Emraan too enjoyed an author backed role. "This character is very colourful and the best part is that the track in which I appear is the happiest of them all. That sealed the deal for me," smiles Tusshar.
