They were great to watch as models - and they're even more fun to see on their new reality show - but you've never seen them like this. Shackled and chained in stacked cages while holding a sign that reads, 'Lonely, Shackled, Abused - Boycott Zoos', models-turned-actors Gauhar and Nigaar Khan recently posed for a photo shoot for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. Their point? Those animals don't belong in zoos. The shoot is set to air on Khan Sisters, a show that gives the public a peek into the lives of Gauahar and Nigaar, on January, 2012.

Commenting, on their support for the for PETA's campaign of keeping animals out of Zoos, The Khan Sisters said, 'We as living creatures love our freedom and animals are no different. If people want to sight animals, zoo is not the best place, instead animals should be observed in their natural habitat like animal reserves where they are living the life that they were meant to live. If we can't manage to visit them, we can learn about these amazing wild animals by watching videos, television programs or by reading about them on the internet or in books and magazines and that's what we, the Khan sisters are hoping the audience would understand', says Gauahar.
Nigaar comments, ''I firmly oppose zoos because cages and cramped enclosures at zoos deprive animals of the opportunity to satisfy their most basic need i.e. freedom. More awareness needs to be created to make people take a stand against cruelty and steer clear of zoos and activities like breeding and bringing in of new animals should be banned at zoos. The animals should eventually be phased out of zoos and money which is currently poured must instead be transitioned into creating natural habitats like reserves and national parks where they can have a better quality of life.''
