When KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM was released in the month of December exactly a decade ago, it was being touted as the last of the multi-starrers. What had seemed like an end of trend has now been proven otherwise, what with HOUSEFULL 2 team returning from the final schedule that was completed in Thailand last week.
Says a crew member, ''The last time a film that successfully managed to do that was KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM that had a mighty star cast featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan. Even at that time people were apprehensive whether Karan Johar would be able to pull it off but he did that. This time around the onus was on Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan to prove the detractors wrong and they did that by wrapping up the film in six months flat.''
AKSHAY KUMAR, SAJID NADIADWALA and SAJID KHAN
With HOUSEFULL 2 getting into post production now, there is a 100 days plan being chalked out to strategically promote the film in the New Year. For the makers here, what has turned out to be heartening indeed is the fact that in the days when solo starrers go through quite some pain in reaching the completion mark, HOUSEFULL 2 didn't have to go through the date hassles from its multi star-cast.
Says Sajid Nadiadwala, ''The way all actors came together to wrap up HOUSEFULL 2 in such a quick manner is a testimony of the goodwill I have earned over the years. Also, it is heartening to see the way Sajid (Khan) ensured that he gave full justice to presence of as many as 22 major actors in the film. It's time now to move on to the next phase of the film.''
Guess the trend is all set to continue though it has to be seen whether an 'event' like this would again take a decade to occur!
