Not only was January 2011, the best ever in terms of business of the films released, but it also marked the comeback of two top most ranking actors of their times.
We had in one of our previous columns informed you why the first month of the year 2011 will be the best ever, and most of our predictions have come true. With two clear hits, NO ONE KILLED JESSICA and YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, and despite a just about average theatrical performance by Aamir Khan's DHOBI GHAT, followed by a decent (though a tad disappointing) opening for Madhur Bhandarkar's DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI, January has ceased to sound as dreadful as it used to earlier.
NO ONE KILLED JESSICA, YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA and DHOBI GHAT
However the month has definitely proven lucky for Sunny Deol and Rani Mukerjee. The trade as well as the public had given up on these two splendid actors, who had once ruled the hearts of the audience, but they made a grand comeback because Bollywood never fails to surprise.
Despite the presence of his evergreen dad, Dharmendra, and his charming young bro, Bobby, Sunny was undoubtedly the 'jaan' (life) of YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, his action and comic sequences had the audience in ruptures. And while taking nothing away from super actress Vidya Balan, it was Rani Mukherjee whose hard-hitting performance as a foul mouthed, straight forward and honest performer in NO ONE KILLED JESSICA that moved the audience.
Without doubt that Rani and Sunny have definitely made a grand return, and we hope that these two will continue to give many more memorable performances and hits in the times to come!
