In TANU WEDS MANU, an Anand L Rai directed film; R.Madhavan plays the character of Manoj Sharma (Manu), an NRI doctor from London, who comes to India in order to get married to a 'desi' girl. His hunt leads him to small towns in the country where he comes across Kanpur based Kangana Ranaut (Tanu). Today when the movie is gearing up for release, Madhavan is happy that the team of TANU WEDS MANU didn't have to compromise on the basic idea behind the making of the film which was about retaining a 'desi' flavour.

"When we started to work on this film, we knew that it had to be a 'desi' film; the kind which actually smells of North India", says Madhavan, "The love story had to be real. Aisa nahi ki bas pyaar hua aur pahaunch gaye Switzerland ki vaadiyon mein. That would have defeated the purpose behind making this film. The narrative has been kept heart-warming enough to guarantee a smile on your face for most of the times."

With a running length of 1:59 hours, TANU WEDS MANU is a film which has excited Madhavan the most ever since the release of 3 IDIOTS.

"That was one film where I could look back and compliment myself for my performance. Now TANU WEDS MANU is one such film where I can proudly say that audience would get more than what they would have expected from me", says Madhavan with his head high.

Also starring Deepak Dobriyal and Eijaz Khan, TANU WEDS MANU has music by Krsna and releases all over on 25th February.
