In the Hindi film industry the career of a heroine barely lasts for a decade on an average. Though there are exceptions, and a few recent names that come to mind are those of Kajol, Juhi Chawla and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who defied the rules, but these examples are far and few. However there is another name that has consciously stayed away from the limelight and stood the test of times and that is Divya Dutta.
Having started her career way back in the early nineties with films like VEERGATI and AGNISAKSHI, Divya is still essaying substantial roles. In fact not only in Hindi cinema, Divya is a top draw in Punjabi cinema as well. While most of her contemporary actresses have almost retired or settled into matrimonial bliss, Divya is still around and making a mark with her excellent performances.
When we asked Divya the reason for her extended career in a male dominated industry she said, "You have to enjoy your work. Each new project should excite you and I am enjoying my work."
These are wisdom pearls indeed and applicable not only to Bollywood but for every other profession as well.
