It is known by now that Dia Mirza, Zayed Khan and newcomer (writer and director) have opened a production house 'Born Free'. Their first film is all set to go on floors next month but before that the youngsters have gone through an intensive pre-production exercise to ensure that there are no loose ends. As a first step towards this, Dia, Zayed and Sahil have resolved that budgets of their films would be definitely kept in check. That's because based on learning from experiences of their colleagues and contemporaries, they do realise that it's the budget of a film that fails, not the film itself.
"That's right, we are extremely conscious about this", say Dia as well as Zayed in unison, "So many times we see some good films labeled as flops at the box office. Mostly something like this happens when budgets are not in synch with what is indeed required to be spent on a film."

This is the reason why a strong production team is being built by them which doesn't just understand the dynamics of film making but is also well versed with the business acumen required to conceive, complete and release a film.
"There is very strong need that distributors, exhibitors and producers walk hand-in-hand", says Sahil who sounds like quite a pro even before he is yet to call 'lights, camera and action' for his first outing, "You have to go back into the basics of this business and ensure that there is honesty in the way one deals with it. 'Born Free' has the kind of setup where we are ensuring that everybody is happy. We are putting in money where the mouth is."
Team, we wish you all the best as long as you indeed put the money where the mouth is!
